About Didier Serteyn
Didier Serteyn graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Liege in 1982 and completed his PhD in 1989. He served as a Full Professor specializing in equine anesthesia, surgery, and intensive care at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and head of the equine clinic until 2020. Recently, he was recognized as a diplomate of the "European College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation." His research has focused on various equine pathologies, including myopathy, laminitis, colic, osteochondrosis, and osteoarthritis.In addition to applied research, he has conducted fundamental research on topics such as mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammation, and regenerative medicine. He has published over 200 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and holds four patents transferred to spin-off companies. He has also supervised 15 PhD programs. Over the past decade, he has secured over €15 million in funding for both applied and basic research initiatives.Didier Serteyn founded Revatis, a Spin Off company from the University of Liege, which specializes in a patented technology for obtaining multipotent stem cells from muscle micro-biopsies. This technology has applications in both veterinary and human medicine research and clinical settings.
