The educational counselor provides career, education, financial aid, and post-secondary advisementalong with other forms of educational counseling to individuals from disadvantaged backgroundswho are pursuing post-secondary education. This position is located in the Educational Opportunity Center that is part of the US Department of Education TRIO grant program, that aids students to reach their post secondary Academic/Career Goals.

● Teach and advise students and provide the academic tools for success, accountability and responsibility that relates to their career field

●Provides counseling services for around 1,000 annually students to choose a major in their desired field, meet academic requirements to graduate and attain a professional career●Develop, coordinate and direct student programs and services regarding College social success, mentor ship and outreach campus wide

●Lead student orientation sessions for new students at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). The Transition Specialist/Orientation Facilitator works alongside First Year Advisors, Orientation Leaders, College faculty and staff to provide a comprehensive orientation & advising experience for new students to NOVA. ●Managed and supervised a team of 12 to coordinated the successful execution of Student Orientation sessions including pre-orientation preparatory work, day-of and on-site logistics and post-orientation follow-up duties

The Mission of the VCU Clark Hill Institute for Positive Youth Development is to develop, evaluate,and disseminate effective prevention strategies and promote the healthy safe, and otherwise positive development of youth through research, and education and outreach.●Proctored a total of 200 Anti bullying assessments in Richmond Public schools and Richmond county Public libraries to gather data to create anti bullying programs county wide ●Analyzed survey data that resulted in the reduction of juvenile related violence within Richmond County

As a Student Government Senator I was the voice and advocate for the student body. I was the representative from the Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. In my role, I assisted the Technology board to help create and institute new resources and policies making technology more accessible to the VCU community.

In this role I worked alongside the High School Outreach Coordinated and recruited new students into the Community College. I develop programs and events to enhance our efforts of recruitment and enrollment.
