Radiobiology of Medical Exposure Laboratory (LRMed)One of IRSN's objectives is to lead research projects aimed at understanding the biological effects of ionizing radiation, including the effects caused by its use in the field of medicine. Over 50% of cancer patients are currently treated using radiotherapy, which, while it is an effective treatment, can, in some cases, cause damage to healthy tissue that comes within the irradiation field. Radiation-induced damage occurs as a result of a sequence of complex, integrated biological responses involved in the onset, development and chronicity of tissue lesions.Research at LRMed aims to:Better understand the mechanisms at molecular, cellular and tissue level involved in the biological and physiopathological effects on healthy tissue as a result of external exposure to moderate-to-high dose radiation as used in different irradiation protocols used in the field of medicine;Develop new tools to improve the diagnosis and prognosis of radiation-induced damage and work toward their clinical use;Develop new concepts and models for predicting the risks related to radiotherapy;Perform experiments to validate treatment strategies, especially cell therapy, for the medical treatment of severe radiation-induced lesions caused by external exposure in the field of medicine;Carry out research on the mechanisms of action of such treatments, and work toward their clinical use.

NeuroPSI - Paris-Saclay Institute of NeuroscienceTeam: Development and Evolution of the Neural CrestTeam leader: Dr. Sophie CreuzetI worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Paris-Saclay Institute of Neuroscience (Neuro-PSI), and I passionately studied the role of neural crest cells in the developing brain. In my work, I sought the dream of helping the scientific community to imagine innovative strategies that could shed a light on new therapies and diagnoses for neural crest related malformations.
  • Institut De La Vision
    Chercheur Scientifique
Institut De La Vision Oct 2015 - Sep 2016
    Paris Area, France
In 2015 I was awarded a prestigious scholarship from the Brazilian government that allowed me to carry out my Ph.D. project at the Institut de la Vision (Paris) in collaboration with Dr. Elizabeth Dupin. My experience in France was absolutely significant in my career. I had contact with great researchers in the field such as Dr. Nicole Le Douarin, Dr. Alain Chedotal, and Dr. Xavier Nicol. I could improve my English and French, I could observe and learn how a laboratory works in another country and discover a whole new culture. I have learned new techniques such as the establishment and maintenance of cell lineages, neural crest clonal cultures, in situ hybridization, and the inducement of mesenchymal phenotypes differentiation of trunk neural crest cells.
  • Hospital São Francisco - Concórdia/Sc
    Biologist
    Hospital São Francisco - Concórdia/Sc Jul 2008 - Jun 2009
    Concórdia Area, Brazil
My work was very technical, processing organs and tissues for pathological analysis and coordinating the activities of other technicians to receive, collect and process cells and small biopsies for analysis. That experience greatly contributed to my personal growth and helped me to develop team working skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.
