As Research Scientist I work on image segmentation with models based on Fuzzy Logic and Deep-Learning. I am focused on the extraction/discovery of useful knowledge from these models once segmentation is performed. My research topics include: medical image processing, biomedical signals, knowledge discovery, fuzzy logic, pattern recognition, machine-learning, deep-learning.From 2011 to 2016 I did my PhD at the National University of Mar del Plata, Argentina, working on interval valued Fuzzy Logic applied to medical image segmentation. During this period, I did two research stays: 6 months at the Computational Modeling Lab of the Computer Science Department at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Brussel, Belgium; December 2014 to June 2015); 1 month at the Mathematics and Statistics Institute (IME) at the University of São Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil; May 2012). These stays allowed me to acquire very valuable research experience. After receiving my PhD in 2016, I started my postdoc formation, working at the Image Processing Lab of the Institute of Scientific and Technological Research in Electronics (ICyTE) (National University of Mar del Plata-CONICET, Argentina) as Post-Doctoral Fellow (Scholarship granted by CONICET, Argentina). In that period my research was focused in automatic design methods of Fuzzy Logic systems for knowledge discovering in biomedical image segmentation problems.In 2018, I held the position of Research in CONICET, Argentina continuing working at the Image Processing Lab of the ICyTE and focusing my research on Knowledge Discovery in Medical Images, Fuzzy Logic Models generated form data and Deep-Learning. In 2019 I did a research stay in the Center for Advanced Studies in Information and Communication Technologies (CEATIC), Jaén, Spain; working on Deep-Learning models applied to image classification.I served as a teaching assistant from 2013 to 2020. Currently, I am an Adjunct Professor in the Electronic Department of the School of Engineering at the National University of Mar del Plata. Additionally, I am a Scientific Researcher at CONICET, Argentina.Since November 2023, I have been serving as the Director at the Image Processing Lab of the Institute of Scientific and Technological Research in Electronics (ICyTE), which belongs to the National University of Mar del Plata and CONICET, Argentina.I obtained the promotion to IEEE Senior Member in July 2024.
