- As a Redhat Virtual On-Site Engineer (kernel development), I helped the development team to make backports and to push fixes and features from Linux Kernel upstream code to Redhat Enterprise Linux kernel. My daily work consisted of (a) negotiating with developers and stakeholders the development and inclusion of bug fixes and new features in a specific version of Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL); (b) providing relevant information (schedules, RHEL kernel git tree infos, tests results, source and binaries packages, etc) to the IBM team; (c) mediating conflicts between the development team of Redhat and IBM; (d) making backports (especially when it is identified that it would be more productive). (e) pushing upstream/backports patches to RHEL kernel tree- As a Grub developer, I fixed bugs and developed new features for Grub on PowerVM (mostly for IO drivers, i.e, network, Fibre Channel, NVMeoFC, etc). My job consisted as well of doing support to Suse Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) and RHEL customers. Did some presentations to our test team regarding debugging techniques for Grub, how it works and talks to the firmware, how to check parameters, set debug flags, identify problems with the I/O device/network.- Implemented many scripts and software to increase the overall quality and reduce the turn around.

- Network and cryptography automation tests for the IBM s390x architecture (Mainframe). - Process development for tests and its automation. This included some scripts (python, shell) to improve the development speed and quality, doing daily tests and generating statistical reports. We worked together with the German team helping them to implement the SCRUM framework in the process as well. This was a great milestone for me, because we improved a lot the speed and overall quality of the tests and that made possible to quickly increase the coverage of network and cryptographic functions in Linux Kernel for Mainframe. It was a big challenge because the huge change in the way they worked initially, but they are still using the process we defined.
