As an intern at Freedman Seating Co, my duties vary widely. The highlight of my experience here so far is a bus seat design currently being used in a new line of buses for a DDOT contract with Proterra Inc. Aside from this I have: •Created, updated, and revised over 300 engineering drafts per Standard Operating Procedures as needed- including proper assembly instructions in designs with over 100 components, detailed mechanisms, and weld callouts. Prints ranged from sheet metal components to full seat assemblies and weld tables.•Executed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Simulations on designs to estimate quality of products prior to prototyping, as well as preparing and streamlining these prototypes through a government accredited test process before release.•Managed various updates on older product lines, helping reduce long term costs in both materials and manufacturing time.

Madrid

As an intern in the CSIC-sponsored Instituto de Ciencias Materiales de Madrid (ICMM), I had the chance to work closely with master students under the supervision of Dr. Isabel Montero, a leading physicist in the field of aerospace-application surfaces, on the development of new materials in the field. During my stay, I handled different kinds of data collection on Secondary Electron Emission Yield, prepared material samples, as well as chemical solutions necessary for further research. I also was tasked with editing important research proposals in English and conceiving small apparatus parts necessary for effective data collection.
