Author of political, investigative, and human-interest stories: December 2010: "A Better Life" - A special report about how the lives of four poor Brazilians have - or have not - been changed by the federal government policies aimed at reducing misery and historical inequalities;• September 2010: "The Erenice Affair" - A series of exclusive stories that exposed secret corruption dealings involving businessmen, government contracts, and president Luis Inacio Lula da Silva chief of staff, Erenice Guerra - also an associate and right hand woman to Dilma Rousseff, Lula's protégée in last years' presidential campaign. The foundings led to the exoneration of Mrs. Guerra, three presidential aides and the opening of five federal investigations. As the ensuing result, Mrs. Rousseff saw a sharp decline of her name on the polls and had to face a second-run in the elections - which she eventually won. The accusations are still under federal investigation;•January 2010: "The Haitian Tragedy" - A broad and multimedia coverage of the the earthquake that destroyed Haiti. Following the aftermath of the calamity, I spent two weeks in Port-au-Prince reporting how the Haitian people were coping with the tragedy. These reports were conveyed both in two print, in-depht, cover stories as well as through Twitter feeds (@diegoescosteguy), a personal blog (http://veja.abril.com.br/blog/terremoto-haiti), and video productions published at veja.com;• June 2007: "The Roriz Affair" - An exclusive report that exposed the participation of Brazilian senator Joaquim Roriz in a bribery scheme. The revelations led the politician to resign from his Senate seat and face criminal charges (still under federal investigation).
