Passionate about design. I enjoy developing ideas and concepts for new products and providing CAD support.I have two years’ experience as a CAD Technician at MachineWorks, where I provided CAD support for the marketing department and the company at large. One of my main responsibilities was to develop new demonstration videos to promote the company CAD/CAM software libraries. I achieved this by producing a tool-path and subsequently extracting the tool tip position data which was used to program the in-house demo software to simulate the material removal that was going to be used in the videos. This challenging task provided me with a valuable opportunity to master skills in a range of software types such as Hypermill, SolidCam and Camtesia as well as independent coding of in-house software through consulting manuals, University material and seeking support where appropriate from senior staff within the company. I am continuing to broaden my CAD software skills and am currently working towards my accreditation as a Solidworks professional. I have knowledge and experience in rapid-prototyping and discrete machining equipment such as the 3d-printer, laser cutter and 3-axis milling machine through completion of a BSc in Computer Aided Design Technology at Sheffield Hallam University. I gained hands on practical skills in the band saw and the lathe under the supervision of highly experienced workshop technicians. I pride myself in striving towards high quality workmanship whilst also paying attention to health and safety to ensure all practices are safe, and diligently taking action where shortfalls are identified.
