2012 - 2017On Maasvlakte, a train detection monitoring system is installed and maintained. Results are analysed in close cooperation with Prorail to determine the relation between track use and train detection quality. The train detection systems are audio frequent track circuits.2012Proving the correct functioning of the train detection system on the Hanzelijn for train speeds up to 200 km/u. A specific measurement system was developed and succesfully employed for this purpose.2011 - 2012Inventor of a solution to nullify the safety risk of cable theft in points / turnouts. This solution also greatly reduces the amount of copper cables in the track and is now succesfully being implemented on more than 100 points/turnouts.2011 - 2012Determining the safe and reliable application of the so called "third impedance bond". This solution increases the safety of track circuits in points/turnouts while reducing the damaging of insulated joints (so called "ES-lassen" and is being implemented on several locations.2008 - 2012As consultant assigned to the HSL-Zuid EMC Taskforce in order to contribute in resolving the remaining EMC issues.Examples of work:Analysis of immunity levels of track circuits and ATP system;Evaluation of large amounts of recorded interference currents to determine the level of interference per type of rolling stock.

2000 - 2011As Senior Assessor, performed several safety assessments (ISA work) for Railcert, Utrecht.2003, 2008Determining the immunity of signalling systems, in use in Portugal, conforming to EN50238 standard. Work involved the creation of validated models of track circuits. This led to new requirements that were used to homologate rolling stock.2004 - 2008Consulting on the new train detection system for the Betuweroute (a new freight line in the Netherlands).1996 - 2012Actively involved in EMC studies for the introduction of 25kV AC traction systems in the Netherlands. Studies were performed to check the compatibility of the existing signalling systems and other systems. Specific studies for lines with conventional 1500V DC traction, running parallel to new 25kV lines.1993 - 1996Project leader and consultant.
