Crta- Behavioral Research Program
Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) Fellow in the Behavioral Research Program (BRP) in the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). As a CRTA Fellow was involved in the Theories Project, which aims to identify and develop improved theories of health behavior. Also, collaborated with other NCI staff, external investigators, and representatives from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on projects relating to consumer perceptions and the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act. Worked on several additional projects including the design of a longitudinal survey comparing various health behavior theories, a meta-analytic examination of Transtheoretical Model constructs across stages of change, and a series of Portfolio Analyses within and across branches of the Behavioral Research Program.

Postdoctoral Fellow (Social Psychology)
Completed a NIDA-funded Postdoctoral Traineeship in Drug Abuse Treatment and Services Research at the University of California, San Francisco. There I integrated previous experimental training in psychology and models of self-regulation and applied it to the field of tobacco dependence. Studies included an examination of tobacco cessation and weight control, an investigation of the effects of exposure to smoking scenes in films on subsequent smoking behavior, and a TRDRP-funded project testing an intervention designed to restore depleted self-control strength by inducing positive emotions, with the ultimate goal of developing potential interventions for individuals with co-occurring self-control demands.
