I've been lucky enough to spend 20 years working with great companies and fantastic people in the process industries. As part of those teams I've helped deliver some significant achievements - not least product managing the product that started life as MTL MOST and which became the IO for Delta V, SIL 2 PAC8000 SafetyNet and a number of other branded products.While at MTL, I began to work on Functional Safety, which over the years has become my major focus. After the MOST team were acquired from MTL by GE Intelligent Platforms, I took over responsibility for all GE safety products and acted as the internal consultant on all things SIL.I left GE to set up the UK office for Risknowlogy, in partnership with Dr Michel Houtermans, which evolved in Method Functional Safety following a management buyout.I now deliver training courses and provide consultancy on all aspects of functional safety. If you need help with functional safety management, compliance with CASS, product certification, SIL verification, independent assessments, FAT witness, HAZOP chair, process risk assessment or an expert witness in a court case - I can help or one of my colleagues can.I am Chairman of the 61508 association, sit on the InstMC Safety Panel and I am an expert on the BSI Committee working on Functional Safety standards.I'm a Chartered Engineer with the IET, a Functional Safety Expert with TUV and a Fellow of the Institute of Measurement and Control.I also act as CEO of the Method group of companies, providing process safety, cyber security and compliance assessment services through other business units.
