Hey 😄I'm Dilan Pérez, a passionate of condensed matter physics and quantum materials. And how can you not marvel at this branch of physics that has had such an impact on our society! The digital/electronic revolution 💻 would not have been possible without the deep quantum understanding of semiconductors which gave rise, among others, to the invention of the transistor and its miniaturization. I am widely amazed to see how quantum understanding of materials has the potential to shape our society in such a way. That is why I am directing my carrer so that I can also be part of this scientific/technological progress.To this end, my next step is to pursue a PhD 🎓 in condensed matter theory, specifically in superconductivity and/or low dimensional materials in order to understand these phenomena in detail and, in a next step, to be able to bring all my knowledge from the academia to the industry.

I use electron beam lithography, reactive ion etching and metal evaporation in a clean room for the fabrication of the devices and a dilution refrigerator (T ~ 100 mK) for the measurements. -
Research Engineer InternQurv Apr 2023 - Jun 2023I developed the Python software to simultaneously remotely control a semiconductor parameter device analyser and a SuperK EXTREME laser. I also developed a graphical user interface which eased the use of my software. Overall, my programme accelerated the measurement process of the company by a factor of 2.

For obtaining the flakes I used the mechanical exfoliation technique. Then, I used Raman photoluminescence spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy for characterising the samples. -
