Duties and Responsibilities: #Conducted core information security activities during a SOC internship, encompassing Security Information & Event Management (SIEM), Threat Intelligence, Vulnerability Management, Education & Awareness, Malware Detection, Incident Response, Network Monitoring, and Log Analysis. #Monitored and analysed Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) logs and alerts through QRadar-Splunk, identifying security incidents for remediation and investigation. #Recognised potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises through thorough reviews and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information from security tools and technologies to develop IDS/IPS, Firewall, and SIEM rules. #Analysed phishing incidents, developed phishing/vishing scenarios, and contributed to the administration of the phishing assessment program, including deploying assessments and generating detailed reports. #Analysed malware and virus attack incidents, investigated details of infected Windows hosts, identified indicators of compromise (IOCs), and prepared comprehensive incident reports to determine the impact and scope of malicious activities, ensuring efficient recovery of systems and data. #Imitated tactics and techniques used by modern attackers, including common network and software exploitation, to analyse potential threats and strengthen defensive measures. #Proactively applied threat intelligence to address potential security risks, enhancing cybersecurity posture. #Collaborated with cross-functional teams to implement effective IDS/IPS, Firewall, and SIEM rules based on analysed intrusion attempts and compromise data. #Contributed to the administration of a phishing assessment program, ensuring realistic scenarios, deployment of assessments, and reporting to enhance organisational awareness and resilience against phishing attacks.
