Developed a white paper on “Toughness Issues with Carbon steel Materials (Piping, Flanges and Fittings)”.Formulated acceptance criteria for super duplex stainless steel 2507 base material, HAZ and weld metal for fabrication of pressure vessels.Developed a technical note on over matched filler metals for welding of high alloy materials for corrosive services.Worked on failures of several components, e.g. reciprocating compressor crankshaft, monel tubing in dry chlorine, stainless steel valve in anhydrous hydrochloric acid, carbon steel elbow in Epychlorohydrin; Analyzed failures and submitted detailed reports along with recommendations. Worked as a metallurgical consultant to maintenance and reliability engineers of a confidential client to help solve problems related to corrosion (examples: dissimilar metal corrosion between carbon steel vessel and monel cone, corrosion of alloy C-276 welds in wet chlorine service, guidelines on welding of Ni-Cr-Mo alloys for fabrication)Interfaced with client and project to resolve issues related to materials and welding. Reviewed vendor drawings for compliance with material selection diagram ( MSD) and client requirements. Developed material selection diagrams (MSD) for various units. Co-ordinated work with other colleagues, project and interfaced with client to complete MSD work meeting schedule. Helped mechanical discipline in resolving materials and welding related issues on projects.
