Since graduating from secondary school in 2018, I'm currently studying a bachelor of science at the University of Waikato. I am in my final year. During my time at university I've picked up many skills related to my field and have even gotten the chance to apply some of these skills in real-life situation. From late 2022 to early 2023, I joined Scion, a crown research institute, as a student technician. I originally achieved this employment independent of my university, registering as part of Scion's summer student program. Eventually, I was enrolled in a university work placement program following my interview. Over the course of 4 months I worked in a laboratory setting under a project leader, assisting in invertebrate/grass/weeds catchment and assortment. I also gained experience in using laboratory equipment completely unrelated to my degree, the most prominent example being commercial DNA extraction kits sold worldwide.
