As a Board Member, I evaluate and analyze deal flow to determine whether the winery should invest in R&D, evaluate industry best practices, and greenlight operational capital improvements. I also built out the category by partnering with local initiatives, including the CITE (wine museum) and drove regional & international branding with TV/movie placement, including Billions and Matrix 2 to drive Bordeaux tourism.

I identified a market opportunity and launched the world’s first premium, frozen wine beverage appealing to millennials and baby boomers, and secured partnerships with SeaWorld, Carnival and Walt Disney Resorts. Initially, I partnered with a top alcohol formulation company, which works with Jack Daniels and Fireball, to create a commercially viable product. I then outsourced production to bulk wine producers, bottlers, and shippers. By establishing a relationship with the Department of Revenue for state & federal licensing and compliance, I secured licensing in 15 states. In addition, I pitched and negotiated contracts with the top national distributors including Southern Wine & Spirits and Breakthru Beverage for current on/off-premise distribution in 10 geographies, including major big box retailers including Bevmax, Lowes Foods, Piggly Wiggly and Harris Teeter. I also established virtual wineries for online distribution and direct-to-consumer.

As a P/L owner, I used data to drive day-to-day operational decisions, scaling operations from 2 US states to 9 and increasing service offerings, resulting in a gain of EBITA from $30 to $128M. During the acquisition of 6 companies, I analyzed deal flow, conducted due diligence, gained buy-in from investment committee, oversaw forensic accountants, negotiated covenants with banks, and integrated newco operations. I was also the liaison to a majority owner private equity fund, providing constant reporting, covenant monitoring, and presentation delivery to GP’s, LP’s and lenders. In addition, I led a 17-person team and onboarded upper and middle management employees with 94% team retention.
