As a Patrol Officer with the Lewistown Police department I performed basic police work. Of which included conflict resolution, critical thinking, time management, and communication with community members. Much of this job was resolving issues that others could not resolve themselves. Once the resolution was decided it was my job to explain to others why this decision was made.

As a field supervisor I was in charge of watching over games to ensure that all the rules were being followed, resolve conflicts, preform basic first aid, and assist referees. Much of my job in regard to making sure that the rules were followed was explaining to participants the unique rules. College aged kids get very competitive, and things can get very heated very quickly, it was my job to break up fights and ensure that conflicts get resolved. As a supervisor it was my job to assist the referees in making sure that they had all the tools that they needed to perform their job to the fullest. Lastly, whenever a person got injured, it was my job to assess the severity of the injury and treat it to the best of my ability.

This communication had a lot to do with laws and regulations regarding firearms and hunting. As a cashier I dealt with large amounts of money, as well as a lot of angry customers. This is where I started using conflict resolution skills in a professional setting.
