In this role, I was responsible for revenue and resource development, as well as overseeing communications and marketing at NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists. I reported to the Executive Director. Duties included:– Work with Executive Director and Communications & Marketing Coordinator to develop and execute long-range communications and marketing strategies for the association– Work with the Executive Director to strategically plan, prioritize and implement growing resource development programs for NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists.– Expand the donor base to cultivate a strong major donor giving program and meet annual benchmarks.– Secure foundation, individual and corporate funding sources, and foster relationships with key stakeholders.– Coordinate annual convention sponsorships.– Solicit and coordinate advertising and in-kind donations for benefit auctions.– Plan and coordinate three national fundraising events to meet revenue goals.– Write, edit and submit grant proposals and reports for NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists program services.– Serve as a conduit to the Office of the Executive Director and National Board of Directors for all media interactions and formal presentations including media appearances and photo opportunities.– Represent NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists at trade shows and development-related networking events.– Supervise the Communications & Marketing Coordinator.
