The Dross is skimmed off into pans to be tipped at a later time. Sampling Metal to ensure metal is in spec for customer. Using a spectrometer to determine the quantity of elements within the metal. Preparation of launders ready for the Direct cast process. Packing collar of launder to accommodate the Furnace movement as it tilts to pour metal through the launders to direct cast casting head. Standing over the casting head watching the cast to ensure a smooth process.End product is a 10 tonne automotive aluminium alloy not to be sent to a sister plant in Germany to be rolled and pressed into car parts for some of the biggest names in the car industry.I am Trained and signed off in various different sections of our process above is one of the sections in our process. This included HCAPP training, Quality Training, COSHH training, HSE training, ISO9001 training, ISO2200 Training , CGMP training and a training pack test which was completed and passed at 100%.As a fully trained Gels plant packing operator working on microniser no:2 I pack various different products, all current run product information is held in a campaign file with head microniser, which is used to set up for packing as each individual product has different packing specifications. Products are packed in valve sacks at 10kg 15kg and 20kg weights then palletised, I also fill 500kg bulk bags depending on customer requirements. X3 bags per hour are weighed by hand to make sure bag weights are in spec. All products are sampled for lab testing at required intervals to maintain spec, we also aseptic sample for food grade products all packing and sampling must be completed using step by step process check sheets to be signed and dated at each stage, this is strictly adhered to. When a product run has been completed I complete a clean down and change over process check sheet signed and dated to prepare for next product run. Show less

It was essential to break the bales in the correct way, if not broken in… Show more Shredding departmentRotary shredder: In this position I started Using a clamp FLT truck to break bales of scrap aluminium on the Conveyor belt that lead up to the rotary shredder. Bales were part of GRN's, each GRN has a yellow ID tag with its specific details on, these were recorded manually on a Novelis sheet, along with the plastic and steel weights that had been extracted during the GRN shredding process. It was essential to break the bales in the correct way, if not broken in the correct way this could lead to blocking the conveyor or damaging the rotary shredder. It was essential to keep visually checking the touch screen display monitor and light system to quickly identify any issues, for example shreds covering bindicators, or conveyors stopping due to speed switch faults ( fines and shreds covering speed switches located at the bottom of the conveyor belt) and also winboxes which set off a blue light to indicate too much plastic was going down the de-coater belt and causing fires which raised the temperature over the required temp setting which in turn would halt production. Main shredder: using clamp FLT and JCB front loading shovel to feed main line. The same GRN sysyem was used on the main line in regards to identification by yellow ID tag. I would build up the pile using various GRN’s, de pallet if necessary, and push onto main conveyor to feed main shredder. All visual and maintenance checks completed on rotary shredder were carried out on main shredder. On B shift there was preventative maintenance to be completed and also a down day every thursday when the hammers on the main shredder mill would be either turned or replaced and a general tidy up of the whole area. Also on site i received training in the LOTTO box safety system and was given a lock to be used if working on or in any machinery.Licenses obtained in house at novelis : JCB Front loading shovel, 15 Ton FLT , 7.5 Ton Rotary head. Daily maintenance checks on machine to ensure smooth operation. Loading and unloading of coils onto and off of wire draw machines, safely with the use of overhead cranes and straps to secure coils. Weighing of coils with detachable scales, each individual coil has a SAP sheet which is edited on the main SAP system as it passes through the various stages of production. It is also my responsibility to manage stock rotation as we have seven machines and a lot of coils and spools moving about the shop floor that have specific destinations. Erasteel use time cell charts that i am responsible for recording the machines state of operation, this is recorded in 15 minute segments and four colours are used to track production , maintenance , downtime , setting before production. These are collected and used to monitor production. I am also responsible for daily housekeeping and detection action checks in my work area. Show less

Once stock that hasn't yet photographed has been identified, a list is compiled of part numbers locations and kit type. This stock is then taken from the racking systems with a Reach truck, checked off list, unpackaged really carefully, and then photographed under professional conditions in a mock studio under photography lamps. once all picked stock has been photographed, repackaged to a customer sale standard and returned to the racking systems I upload all photographic evidence of stock to the customers online catalogue of kit photography, edit excel, rename kit photographs to stock number and save all completed works. Each end of line finished product pallet needs a barcoded sticker that is scanned before leaving end of line and before leaving warehouse as all stock is checked and tracked on our SAP system. If stock is running on any of the four production lines and if there is no wagons to take it to destination it's stock piled in the warehouse over spill area.
