About Dillon Bannister

In May of 1999, I experienced my first natural disaster when my town was hit by an EF-3 tornado. In the years to follow I experienced ice-storms, wildfires, and hurricanes. Through these events, I realized how much I wanted to help my community mitigate, prepare, respond, and recover from disasters. From 2012 – 2019, I served in the United States Marine Corps with a specialization in communication. I was stationed with 9th Communication Battalion in MCB Camp Pendleton, CA, and Marine Wing Communication Squadron 28 in MCAS Cherry Point, NC. During these tours, I was routinely tasked to handle the roles and responsibilities of more senior positions. I’ve erected field facilities, coordinated and controlled logistical movements, established communication networks, and fostered unit cohesion.
