It took a week into a new project using the Agile methodology for the first time for me to email a friend at another company and tell him, “I am geeking out on this process! Who knew Agile was my jam?!?!”. This, sadly, would not be the nerdiest thing I ever said but would define my thirst for project work for the next years to come.Product Management calls to my passions; it incorporates collaboration, creativity and problem solving. As a Product Manager, I control the metamorphosis of the product and the vision. And the idea of being able to create something from thin air that has the potential to revolutionize a process or even an industry is exciting!My project portfolio ranges from the total rewrite of an ecommerce website producing over $150M in annual revenue to the rollout of a full Forecasting and Replenishment system supporting $8B in annual sales and, most recently, the grand opening of a new distribution center supporting a fast growing $600M business requiring the creation of a full, cloud-based receiving system. I came into some of these projects, not as an immediate expert, but as someone open to listening and learning. This allowed me to grow, be the innovator and to become the expert. This is important because as we start new roles, sometimes in new industries, stepping into a role as an expert day 1 is not always as important as stepping in with a drive to listen, learn and bring a fresh perspective. It has been my drive to do these things that has led to my success in Product Management.I truly enjoy project work and still fully embrace an iterative development approach with enthusiasm. I get excited to whiteboard with the team on a challenge we need to solve or to demo a new feature to a stakeholder or even evangelize my product to a tough audience. It is this passion that I bring to my team. When I am not nerding out on dev sprints, I enjoy reading non-fiction attained with my well worn library card!
