Wijeya Publications is an independent news corporation in Sri Lanka comitted to bring the latest news and unbiased views from across the island. It is also home to two of Sri Lanka's most popular daily newspapers, The Nation and The Bottomline.I worked solely for The Nation and The Bottomline newspapers. Key responsibilities included:-- Research, report and write news articles and feature stories.- Be proactive and engage in developing new ideas for copy.- Develop and maintain relationships with government authorities and other journalists.- Travel to sensitive locations and act as a local correspondent for these areas.- Report on any developments concerning defense, crime or economy in Sri Lanka.- Assist the lifestyle editor with coverage of events and openings.- Assist the layout department with news and feature story page layout.- Edit and sub copy for weekly printing.

Responsibilities included ongoing communication with readers to secure and renew subscriptions to the Gulf’s leading English language daily newspaper, Introduce promotions and incentives and update and expand the publication’s subscriber data base.
