It all began with a degree in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College and from there developing as a practicing artist. After several years of teaching drawing to adults for Camden adult education I decided to train as a primary teacher but seeing how little time there was to allow for regular art I decided to use my knowledge and skills to focus on art in Primary School. I was the Art Specialist Teacher at Beecroft Garden Primary in Lewisham for 13 years until July 2022, helping to transform the school into a thriving art hub, from where I offered cpd to teachers and school leaders, demonstrating how a creative curriculum with diversity at its heart is exciting and allows children to connect with the world around them. I've been teaching at Alfred Salter Primary in Southwark since September 2022, where a similar journey has just begun. I have written regularly for AD magazine, NSEAD, delivered a talk on the positive impact of art for Mary Myatt, Myatt & Co, and am currently in the throes of writing a book, to encourage more confidence within this awesome subject.We are all shaped in some way through our childhood experiences. The instinctively creative brains of children are increasingly being suppressed. Through all the challenges of underfunding, it's now becoming a serious issue withing our education system. This motivates me to push forward with the importance of art as a subject for everyone
