Dima Al Munajed is currently a doctoral candidate and Junior Researcher at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) University of Bonn, Germany. Her research examines the impact of conflict on gender roles of displaced Syrian women, centering on their participation in civil society organizations and labor markets in host countries: Turkey and Lebanon. Her work engages with conflict and gender, and she uses feminist approaches to explore links between conflict, civil society, culture and gender in the contemporary Arab contexts. As Junior Researcher at ZEF, Dima supports her department’s teaching activities, teaching workshops in research methodologies to doctoral candidates and participating in sociology seminars at the University of Bonn. She is also a member of the ZEF Gender group and serves as the coordinator for the thematic group 'Gender and Work'. Before commencing her doctoral studies, Dima was mostly involved in the non-profit sector working as a social researcher and project manager. As a researcher, she has conducted research in the areas of rural development, cultural heritage for development, gender equality and inclusion, community empowerment and sustainability. She is experienced in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. As a project manager she has experience in grant proposal writing, project design and implementation and collaborating and communication with various partners and stakeholders such as project donors, other NGOs, government entities and local communities.
