Freelance Fotograaf En JournalistFreelance Fotograaf (Popfotografie/Entertainment/Congressen) May 1994 - PresentEuropaOp 21 mei 1994 zette ik mijn eerste stap in de popfotografie. Ik bezocht het Dynamo Open Air-festival in Eindhoven als fotograaf voor De Toestand, de opleidingskrant van de School voor Journalistiek. Ik was op slag verliefd op het festival en vooral de muziekfotografie. De eerste artiesten die ik voor mijn lens kreeg waren o.a. Pride & Glory, Urban Dance Squad, B-Thong en Life of Agony. Ik kreeg ook meteen te maken met de grillen van bepaalde artiesten: Danzig wilde absoluut niet op de foto. Gerucht ging dat als je het probeerde, Glenn persoonlijk je camera van je nek kwam rukken en je onder de grond zou stoppen. Uiteraard bleef ik op een veilige afstand en heb ik vanaf het veld nog een plaatje geschoten vlak voordat Glenn in woede zou ontaarden vanwege het naar zijn mening te vroeg afgestoken afsluitende vuurwerk. Maar om Pinkpopbaas Jan Smeets te parafraseren: 11 uur is 11 uur...Mijn festival/popfotografiedebuut werd twee dagen later afgesloten met publicatie van onderstaande crowdsurffoto over 3 kolommen op de achterpagina van de krant. Een heerlijk gevoel! Overbodig te zeggen dat ik er toen niets anders meer wilde...
