My point of view is that we need decent designed API's to be able to connect the vast amount of data generated by connected devices (Internet of Things), governments (Open Data), social applications and own data. In my role as evangelist I spread the word and try to convince people that you can't live without good API's nowadays.

As project lead of one of six projects in the second edition of the Dutch Linked Data initiative I led the project "Linked Data for developers". Our target was to find a way to bridge the gap between the developer community and the Linked (Open) Data community. Experimenting with JSON-LD, we concluded that adding an extra 6th star - in the form of a RESTful JSON(-LD) API - to Sir Tim Berners-Lee's famous 5 Star Deployment scheme for Open Data (http://5stardata.info/) did the trick.
