About Dimitri Van Wezel
My name is Dimitri van Wezel.I'm a game art professional with over fifteen years of experience. I consider myself a generalist, with a focus on concept art. I worked for twelve years at Wooga GmbH in Berlin, but am now looking for new opportunities.I was part of the team that brought you June's Journey, one of Wooga's top-games. I created concepts and final art. I maintained and developed an attractive style, while keeping the art consistent. Whenever it is necessary, I helped out with character design or provide assets for cut-scenes, or did some environment work. I'm mentoring interns, keep close lines with the developers and designers, and was responsible for feedback to outsourcing partners.I have a solid background in traditional arts and a bachelor degree in illustration, but I've expanded my skills in every direction: I have experience as 3D low-poly artist, as Flash-animator, and did the art-director for a Nintendo DS game. I did storyboards, UI design, character design, environments, and concept art whenever needed.I’m someone with a keen eye for details, and a good general overview. This counts for artwork, but also for entire projects. I like working with junior-team members, and have enjoyed being team leader. One of the things I like most about the games industry is that you work close with skilled people from various backgrounds. It is something that really keeps me inspired and on my toes.I will thrive in any creative environment with a professional attitude. And I love the changes and the challenges necessary to develop top titles. I’m good at understanding the dynamics and requirements of the project I’m working on, and will always keep short lines between art, game design and engineering, thus pushing the limits, and overcoming those. On a personal level I’m easy going, always approachable and always open minded. I have a hands-on mentality, and am not afraid to make some extra effort to get the icing on the cake just right.
