• Designed, synthesized and characterized β-lactam derivatives using structure-based design as a possible next-generation therapeutic for antibacterial resistant infections• Evaluated library of 70+ β-lactam-based compounds against β-lactamase producing microorganisms, resulting in promising antibacterial activity (MIC 1.5 - 3.12 µg/mL) on phylogenetically distant bacteria M. tuberculosis and M. catarrhalis • Conducted and collaborated with General Research Laboratory, Inc. biologists for cytotoxicity assays of β-lactam derivatives with human breast cancer cell line MDA-MD 231• Instructed and supervised research of 7 undergraduate, 2 post-baccalaureate and 3 graduate students
