My work at IMC headquarters involved the design, set-up, management/coordination and oversight of IMC’s global emergency response activities, and I also participated in organisational structural development and global strategic planning. In terms of field missions, I was frequently deployed as an Emergency Response Team Leader to various disaster areas, spending up to a year providing leadership and support in this regard.My key achievements during this time include:- Representing IMC in Geneva on numerous occasions with the UN and other international Emergency Directors- Participated as a trainer on yearly training events to more than 200 US military personnel - Led the first wave of IMC responses to Sierra Leone and Liberia during the West Africa Ebola crisis.- Led the expansion of IMC’s initial programme team in Turkey, allowing medical professionals to provide cross-border support to Syrian refugees. - Supported 2 hospitals and numerous health centres within Western Libya that had limited access (Nafusa Mountain region) by the third week of the Libya emergency, and provided assistance to other NGOs to gain access. - Deployed an emergency team to Haiti 22 hours after the earthquake, and provided leadership to a team of more than 300 volunteer medical personnel and a staff of over 40 expatriates during the Haiti earthquake response- Obtained access into Lebanon during the Lebanon/Israel conflict by day 2 of the emergency and was the only new US agency to obtain OFDA funding within the first week.
