For her second year Dina promptly asked if I would be willing to take her as a clinical intern on our counseling team. She was so willing to learn and ask questions that I welcomed her. She flourished and eventually became full time staff. I was so thrilled to help her learn and grow as a therapist. As a full time staff she managed a caseload of 25 to 30 clients providing one on one therapy, family therapy, and groups. In our individual supervisions she was appropriately inquisitive, and willing to take recommendations to build better rapport, keep healthy boundaries, and support treatment planning. Though Dina was a novice clinician, she certainly proved herself to be excellent at time management, clinical writing, timeliness of paperwork, building rapport with marginalized populations and always willing to help with other department community engagements. I always appreciated her keen interest in policy and how that effects the provision of clinical care.
