Naartjie Software Solutions is an IT company contracted by Sappi on a full time basis; to develop, maintain & support all software related systems & issues. DUTIES:• I was based at the Sappi Tugela Mill in Mandeni.• Responsible for developing, maintaining & supporting all the software systems at Sappi Tugela.• Liaising with all levels of management and production staff on a daily basis.• Ad Hoc development and maintenance of Oracle 7 and Oracle 9 production databases.• Ad Hoc development, testing & maintenance of front-end systems using Visual Basic, which links to Oracle databases at the back-end. All interfaces on the production floor where designed using Visual Basic.• Development, testing, debugging of stored procedures, functions & packages on Oracle databases, by using PL/SQL Developer.• Development & Maintenance of web sites on the Sappi Intranet, using HTML, JavaScript, VBScript & ASP.• Ad Hoc development & maintenance of web reports on the Sappi Intranet, using HTML & ASP, e.g. Production Reports, Daily Reports, etc.• 24-hour standby support.

Daily Tasks:• Providing I.T. Technical support to the Call Centres.• Use of SQL to fix problems with the dialer. (E.g. Agents not receiving calls).• Use of SQL to update, extract information & produce reports from our various databases. (e.g. Details extraction of accounts worked for the previous month, based on certain criteria. This would return the details of every customer called for a specific campaign e.g. Truworths.) • Use of Excel to update various daily reports, which are given to the call centre managers. (E.g. Daily report on Agent’s performance & sales.) • Use of Excel to format the actual data used by the call centres. The data consists of all the customers’ information.• Importing the formatted data into queues on the respective database. • Use of SQL to Queue the Dialer daily, with the accounts to be worked for that day. Also to De-activate and activate queues when required.
