In the role of architect, I did the initial investigation, design, and implementation to integrate the Indirect Tax applications into the ONESource platform. This included identifying the integration points and impact to the application suite, constructing the initial CI/CD plans to produce the applications and to deploy them into the integrated environments. I provided the development team with patterns and strategies to guide them in the exposure of the tax policy configuration as REST services for the user interface. As a practical stop-gap, I designed and led the implementation of a separate application used to synchronize critical account information until the business choses to adopt the standard platform integration capabilities. During this time, I designed and prototyped various changes, features, and applications. This includes the ability to decompose the legacy WAR application, exposing and securing data management functionality as a REST service for the user interface, and a new application to enable our customers to invite their vendors and customers to submit their exemption certificate data in a secure manner. This included shepherding the design through various approval stages with the broader architecture team and with security reviewers. During this time, application and related system security issues were identified, escalated, and mitigated. As part of the team transforming our legacy applications to AWS, we put forth a design and project roadmap. I assisted in these plans and in the task and deliverable breakdown. Individual contributions include changes to support PostgreSql, to use Hystrix for additional bulk-heading, to extract the core functionality of the application (tax calculation) as its own application.

Technical lead of the project replacing proprietary persistence layer and cache with well-known and standard solutions - Hibernate and Infinispan. We needed to ensure the transactional boundaries with JTA on JBoss EAP 6, WebSphere 8, WebLogic 12. As a result of business constraints, the project included the need to incorporate IronJacamar as a JTA provider at bootstrap for Tomcat. Profile and tune entity import processTechnical lead and key contributor for a tax compliance extract was implemented using SAP DataServices and the related IDT reporting system built on top of SAP BOE. Responsible for the design and the implementation of a process for extracting, summarizing, and re-leveling transaction records for ingestion into the compliance product. This involved collaborating with the compliance management development team in addition to local development teams. Related to this were extensions to the reporting server-side application and the related user interface. Contributor and significant leadership in the project to adopt the certificate management source code the company purchased.
