I instructed 2 of the 4 weekly practicum sessions which was 44 of the 69 students. Senior Service Hydrologist
Provided primary NWS hydrologic support for the Minneapolis and Duluth NWS Weather Offices (WFO) to the state emergency management and other water resource partners, including FEMA, MN & WI State Homeland Security, US Geological Survey (USGS), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), MN Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR), and MN Pollution Control.*For the spring 2009, 2010 and 2011 floods, provided weather and hydrologic probabilistic and forecast information via email and live webinars to 450+ partners to support their preparedness and response activities. While flood levels were significant, impacts were minimal due to proactive measures. In 2010 conducted a partner review of services and needs.*Program management, technical and administrative support for WFO hydrologic service activities: 1) Maintained WFO hydrometeorological databases and documentation, monitored network performance and quality controlled data. 2) Identified a strategy to incorporate snowmelt into a headwater hydrologic model which successfully produced flood forecasts in 2011. 3) Conducted hydrologic studies for new service requirements at flood risk locations. Worked with partners to establish 3 new river gauges and aided 2 communities on grant applications. 4) Updated hydrology operations procedures, provided staff training and streamlined Duluth’s hydrology products and services. *Enhanced NWS Twin Cities weather decision support services.*Organized a workshop on local rainfall and river gauging solutions. *NWS representative on technical interagency teams, including MN Silver Jackets and MN HSEM GIS Working Group.

As the acting NWA Secretary, I was a member of the NWA Executive Committee and Council. We have monthly conference calls and address action items in sub-teams. As secretary, I compose all minutes, track action items, and manage our Dropbox folders for document sharing and the Basecamp account for collaborative initiatives. Finally, I revamped the action item tracking spreadsheet to incorporate a quick reference “open action item” table.As the chair of a new committee for the NWA, the Social Media Committee, I immediately assembled a team of volunteers that had strong social media skills. We then identified a mission, vision, and goals and outlined strategies to incorporate social media as a key vehicle of communication with the membership and local chapters. For the 2012 Annual Meeting, we actively used social media prior to and during the conference to enhance the conference experience and engage individuals that were unable to attend due to federal budget constraints. As the chair, I was a representative on the NWA Communications team. The purpose of the Communications team is to ensure timely and effective communication in the NWA and all external communication outlets.

Prepared project scope, solicited vendor proposals, created funding requests, and assisted during installation.
