As a solution architect for the Nexus Systems engagement, my focus shifted to product development. I designed the system architecture, migration and integration architectures and POCs for payment / validation services. The effort and expertise I put in transforming business requirements into architecture, and later into code, was my chief contribution here. Nexus was another opportunity to approach an engagement from a different perspective, this time in a senior-level position which was more focused on the tech side and less on team management. In terms of my tech skills, I benefited the most from gaining a deeper understanding of accounts payable processes and AWS cloud services.

As a tech lead at Mistral, I worked on two engagements: Brightstar Device Protection (platform for phone and device insurance programs) and, later on, Coinbau (blockchain application development). Each allowed me to continue deepening my tech expertise and understanding the nuances of collaborative work and team leadership. I developed a deep understanding of what is essential to delivering software using teams distributed across geographies and time zones. My grasp of tech issues such as bulk enrollment optimization, database design, MVP optimization and blockchain also improved significantly.

Working at FedEx meant looking at software development from a somewhat different angle. I was working on a solution for a FedEx partner company (http://www.a2b.ba) which allowed me to get better grasp of product development from the point of view of the client. As an architect and a senior software engineer, I was now accountable for the full development cycle (architecture - design - implementation - testing - support). This was my first major challenge working as a developer. Apart from picking up the basics about working in a team and understanding the importance of company culture, I had a chance to work on technologically challenging projects in the full development cycle (analysis - design - coding - testing - deployment - support).
