• PreK through 8th grade; 29th largest school district in Arizona; 19 schools; 1,100+ employees; $136M budgetBrought organization and structure to district with $5M deficit and no district leadership team, immediately addressing 3 critical areas: finance, human resources, and student achievement.• Staffing: Saved nearly $10M in first year by developing and budgeting for an innovative and effective system of staffing — staffing for learning space model (replacing student to teacher ratios) — helping students achieve / thrive.- Coached and led teachers, holding them accountable for closing learning gaps and using progress monitoring system to identify teacher success and growth opportunities; when teachers improved, students improved.• School Finances / Funding: Engaged community to pass $35M bond (for first time in 10 years) and $48M M&O override (11/17), as well as $15.4M Capital override (11/18).- Ended 2017 – 2018 year with balanced budget and $5M+ in reserve — 1st time in district history.- Earned “Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting” by Association of School Business Officials for fiscal year 2018.• Student Achievement:- Realized at least 4%-5% improvement in AzMERIT math and reading in first year.• School Board Relations:- Prepared efficiently and appropriately for school board meetings, resulting in achieving passage of 288 of 289 consent and action items placed on board agenda; 287 items passed unanimously.• Parents and Community:- Technology: Introduced Here Comes the Bus app one of 1st in state, promoting student safety while improving parent-school relations; revamped district website to be more user friendly, attractive, and comprehensive, creating better-informed community while being more appealing to prospective talent.- Red for Ed - Navigated historic teacher walk-in / walk-out in 2018, accommodating working families by keeping school buildings open with breakfast and lunch — and activities.

• 31 elementary, middle, and high school principals as well as district’s only early college high school and Center for Career & Technology Education• $100M operational budget and $283M+ in bond projectsFacilitated numerous staff and community meetings to provide facts about $668.8M bond, which ultimately passed (largest bond ever to pass in El Paso County).• Led efforts to restructure an existing under-served high school into open enrollment Career Academies Magnet High School to both better serve children and compete with numerous emerging charter schools.

• 5 urban high school principals; open enrollment district; $25M operational budget and $100M+ in bond projects.Developed ideas and action plans to improve student achievement, providing academic direction, leadership development, and coaching.• Served on 7-member team that led district in rejuvenating 41 Pre-K – 12 schools, effectively guiding / coordinating transformations with innovative practices and technology, including 1:1 computing.• Participated as team member for Furr High School XQ: The Super School Project, which was one of 10 schools in U.S. to win a $10 million grant. - Met students needs on all levels, such as Introducing clinic to offer wrap-around services which Increased enrollment and drove funding, earning national spotlight. • Led district ad hoc committee to implement Texas SB 149 which provided alternative methods for satisfying public high school graduation through the use of Individual Graduation Committees (IGC).

• 1,600+ students and 175 staff and faculty members; flagship schoolAs educational and instructional leader for large and diverse high school campus, set positive tone for learning, realigned staff to improve collaboration and accountability across content areas, and generated master schedule to vitalize Professional Learning Communities (PLC).• Led efforts so that 97% of all students were designated as College and Career Ready Graduates; increased dual enrollment 20%; and improved average daily attendance 2% in the first year.

• 200+ students / 21 staff and faculty membersRaised academic achievement by serving as instructional leader and translating district goals into focused school plan for small rural high school campus on the U.S.-Mexico border. Created a safe space for students in remote area plagued by drug cartel issues.• Turned around low-performing campus, earning distinction as Texas Education Agency (TEA) “Recognized” campus for first time in school history.• Over 4-year period, increased ELA 16 percentage points; math 47 percentage points; science 35 percentage points; and social studies 7 percentage points.- Led efforts that improved graduation rate by 7.8 percentage points.• Named one of America’s Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report in 2013.• Selected by National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA) as a Higher Performing School in 2010 and 2011.

Taught grade-level and functional-level TEKS for Math and English Language Arts, as well as 8th-grade Career Investigation class which explored education beyond high school and vocational careers.

Held several leadership positions in various combat units ready for rapid, worldwide deployment at moment’s notice; developed subordinates’ strengths to create depth of expertise / support.• Served as primary instructor and senior enlisted advisor to professor of Military Science for over 100 advanced and basic cadets enrolled in the Army’s Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program at University of Northern Iowa.- Led and trained 34 ROTC cadets to earn a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in U.S. Army.• Earned numerous commendations, service medals, and achievement awards.
