Mr. Ditta is one of the pioneers in CAD / CAM for the electronics design and manufacturing industry. As an early adopter of ECAD systems he soon realized that there was a need for specialized software that would bridge the design and manufacturing communities with a means to seamlessly transfer and share both knowledge and data between the multitude of disciplines which exist across the life cycle of any electronic product. This vision came to fruition in the form of a software package known as CAMCAD. His company, Router Solutions, successfully developed, marketed and sold CAMCAD along with many related software products for 15 years. In 2006, after well over 10,000 seats of CAMCAD had been installed worldwide, Router Solutions was sold to Mentor Graphics who is not only furthering the product line, but also leveraging much of the technology across all of their products.As an entrepreneur Mr. Ditta has been at the helm of multiple companies and has been a key advisor for many more. As a product developer he has vast experience in all aspects of product design, development and manufacturing. He has also become an expert in utilizing Asian resources for product development and manufacturing to keep the cost down and the quality high.

Originally serving as Vice President of Applications, I was responsible for all customer interaction and was tasked with ensuring RSI products meet the needs of our customers and the industry overall. In September of 2001 I took over the roll of President and CEO after the untimely passing of my partner and co-founder Wolfgang Schenke. As President I oversaw all product specification, architecture and development activities along with setting the overall corporate strategies. The primary goal I set for RSI was to become the defacto standard software solution for the PCB Test and Inspection market. This was successfully achieved over the course of two years by having well over 10,000 installed seats of our software. Continual growth, profitability and the highest level of customer satisfaction ultimately lead to the acquisition of RSI by Mentor Graphics in August of 2006.

The main focus of Design Express was to offer PCB design services at a very competitive rate, but with the option to expedite those services by paying a premium. This was achievable by acquiring world class design tools with automation simply not available in other CAD systems and most importantly, designing the procedures that could most effectively utilize those tools in a scalable fashion with average skill level employees. Design Express grew to become one of the largest PCB Design Service Bureaus in the United States with customers’ world wide. I sold my position in Design Express as I saw new opportunities emerging in the software side of the PCB industry. These opportunities were the impetus of Router Solution.

Director Engineering ServicesAmdahl Communications Systems Mar 1976 - Dec 1983I joined Amdahl (then known as Tran Telecommunications) as an entry level draftsmen working on simple mechanical enclosures and PCB layouts. Over the years I steadily became much more involved with the advanced mechanical and electrical design activities. With constant promotions and added responsibilities I became the Design Drafting Supervisor in 1980. Also in 1980 we brought a CAD system into the department and it was my responsibility to make this very expensive capital expenditure productive for the company. I achieved this goal and the results were the doubling of my departments output, with far greater accuracy and no increase in staff. In 1982 I was promoted to Director of Engineering Services where my responsibilities encompassed all mechanical design, all PCB design, all drafting activities, all documentation control, all document reproduction activities and the heading up the engineering change control board.
