Currently I am enjoying a wild ride at my first startup-like company. As a cloud admin for a payment solutions fintech, I have to interface with development, networking and security teams frequently to keep the operations running smoothly, but also with partners, other business units and keep an eye on usage and cost metrics, also CI/CD support and developer mentoring! Only possible with automation!

Due to my previous experience with Software Lifecycle Management and tooling, I landed a job that had this function, but also was a "Trojan horse" into the world of classic IT. I became a bona fide VMs sysadmin of a CI/CD tools stack, but also its operator, support and training, the whole one-stop-shop! We initially supported only our internal development team, but given we were the LATAM Regional IT branch, the stack was intended and then expanded to be used by several other teams, and by the end of my stay was already deploying in several different regional datacenters.

In a turn of events, someone had to pick up the role of SCM, required due to the process of the time and SOx compliance. I quickly assimilated the role and, in fact, managed to drive our 100+ developer team (with contractors) to be the first in the company to migrate to the new Application Lifecycle Management tool being deployed by headquarters, something I hold with pride to this day!

Here I jumped head-first into the world of corporate software development fresh out of college. Inside the biggest Brazilian company by market cap, I quickly had to learn the ropes of what makes the big machine tick, both by maintaining legacy systems and participating in greenfield projects, all the while learning with our (in hindsight) quite successful adoption of agile through Scrum/Kanban.

Here I worked in a very small team, but in a very interesting robotics subject - Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems AS/RS Warehouses, having even participated in the deployment of an on-site patch update.

In this role I got the first taste of professional software development, and found out I have a kink with logistics and Geographic Information Systems, having deployed the weighted Dijkstra's algorithm to the company's trucks :)
