As an Engineer in the Biomaterials and Engineering Section (Laboratory Branch), I assist in laboratory testing projects to assess the quality, safety and performance of medical devices. This work contributes to the continual improvement of national and global regulatory systems and standards for medical devices. The role includes testing medical devices, developing testing methods and providing technical advice and drafting written scientific documentation, including laboratory reports and guidelines in relation to the regulation of medical devices. With the assistance of a team of engineers and scientists, the Section develops and implements laboratory testing systems within a quality system environment that contributes to the TGA’s capacity to respond to incidents with medical devices.As a graduate in the Department of Health, I had the opportunity to be a part of the co-ordination of the TGA in their standards involvement as well as develop an asset management system for the section. I was also able to support the development of business and risk management plans across the entire Department of Health.

Responsible for leading a 6 month gap year program in Israel, including developing and running programming, co-ordinating logistics, liaising with parents in Australia and with program organisers. A very successful program was run with twelve participants having an incredible experience and gaining valuable leadership skills. At end of program, moved into the role of Manager for the Australian Junior Delegation at the Maccabiah Games in Israel.

Melbourne, Australia

My role was to organise and run a sports leadership gap year program in Israel. The aim was for those in year 12 who were affiliated with one of the sports clubs which was a member of Maccabi Australia to go on a gap year program after school and come back to be involved with the organisation in a leadership capacity. I was responsible for developing, marketing and recruiting for the program; as well as implementing it for its duration overseas. I worked for a year on developing the program, working with the recruitment officers in each state to participant requirements as well as working with Maccabi Australia and Maccabi World Union to finalise all parameters of the program as well as what role the participants would play in the Maccabiah Games at the end of the program.
