Dion McCarthy, University of Michigan B.S. Arch 1982, Harvard University Graduate School of Design, M.Arch 1989, is the founder and president of DesignARC LA Inc. in Los Angeles, California.After graduation from the University of Michigan, Dion worked at Koning Eizenberg Architecture in Santa Monica where he worked on a variety of projects, including the Ken Edwards Center in Santa Monica, California.After receiving his Masters degree from Harvard University, Dion worked for de Bretteville and Polyzoides Architects in Los Angeles on various projects including the Playa Vista residential community in Marina del Rey, California.In 1990 he established PRAXIS architecture with Doug Myhr, and in 1995 co-founded DesignARC LA Inc., where he currently serves as the firm’s President and Co-Director of Design.Dion has been an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Southern California, and has participated in design review panels at the University of Southern California, the University of California Los Angeles, Arizona State University, the Southern California Institute of Architecture, Art Center College of Design, and Otis College of Art + Design.Currently Dion is engaged in the design of transit-based mixed-use projects throughout California, new hotel, retail and housing projects for downtown Palm Springs California, and new communities in the cities of Chengdu, Guangzhou and Lijiang China.
