He then worked on unconventional reservoirs in the Permian Basin as a Wellsite Geologist where he was known for his attention to detail and willingness to provide quality geologic advice during drilling operations. Currently, Dion has transitioned from the petroleum sector to Mining where he now holds the title of ore control geologist at The Mosaic four corners mine in Tampa Florida.

Development GeologistPetrotrin Nov 2003 - Jul 2009Point FortinResponsibilities were as follows: Provided technically robust prospects which supplied the location pool that supported of the Soldado drilling program. This was done by successfully integrating all available geological, geophysical and production data to create the 3D geological models used to manage field activities. Provided geoscientific input to identify opportunities to add reserves to the existing field base in the Main, East, North and Southwest Soldado Fields in the Gulf of Paria. Continually incorporated and updating all geological and reservoir quality data to maintain an up-to-date reservoir geological models. Worked as lead Geologist on multidisciplinary team that proved up reserves estimated at 48 million barrels of hydrocarbons in place. As lead geologist managed studies to identify smaller inconspicuous fault blocks containing bypass pay in all fields. These individual fault blocks may contain estimated reserves anywhere between 170 thousand to 400 thousand barrels of hydrocarbons in place. This work lead to the drilling of development wells that has produced well over a million barrels of oil and condensate from 17 wells.
