Developed and maintained the debugger and JTAG drivers for Triscend’s TA7 Configurable System on Chip (CSoC) toolchain (ARM7TDMI core).Integrated Triscend’s drivers with 3rd-party GUIs and JTAG servers.Developed and maintained boot firmware for Triscend’s TA7 CSoC devices and embedded firmware drivers for Triscend’s “FastChip” software development suite, including drivers for the TA7 proprietary on-chip breakpoint units.Developed embedded TA7 firmware for demonstrating and testing Triscend development kits.

Developed and maintained embedded hardware and software to create Mesotech’s digital telemetry scanning sonar product line, including definition and development of the Mesotech digital telemetry standard.Architected and developed all embedded DSP imaging firmware for Mesotech’s SM2000 first multibeam sonar, and managed and guided the development for its custom video overlay hardware.

Team lead to develop DSP software for an airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system. This included analysis and mapping of the SAR algorithm to custom DSP hardware and software modules, designing the high level DSP software architecture, and hands-on assembler programming to speed up critical algorithms.Developed embedded microprocessor hardware & software and managed a team to upgrade the data recording subsystem for another airborne SAR.

Developed a passive multibeam sonar with auto-tracking capability for a submarine sonar suite. This included feasibility study, critical timing and performance analysis, requirements definition, mapping system blocks and algorithms to parallel processing software & hardware modules. Developed an underwater acoustic signature simulator subsystem for a tactical submarine simulator/trainer system. This included analysis and synthesis of underwater acoustic signatures, mapping functional system blocks to parallel processing hardware & software modules.Both projects involved hands-on development of embedded DSP hardware & software.

Responsible for Rhodes University Antarctic program. Duties included collection and analysis of ionospheric data, maintaining and repairing scientific electronic equipment, and performing general Antarctic base duties.
