Dionne Mutanda is a highly self-motivated chemical engineer with experience in the Water and Wastewater treatment industry. She was a quality assurance intern at Zimbabwe National Water Authority, responsible for daily water quality tests i.e. (TDS, pH, turbidity, BOD), spearheaded weekly occupational safety awareness meetings, and compiled records and reports for the department.Engineering for me, is mostly driven by my passion for science, which I discovered when I was in secondary school. I would always look at myself in the mirror each morning before going to school, and say to myself, "If other ladies are excelling in STEM, I also can do it". This helped throughout my academics and in 2019, I became a qualified Chemical Engineer. So, it seems engineering was not my only passion! haha. Whilst studying engineering, I also was doing a teaching program with HIT. I decided to explore this side of the planet as awaited to graduate from college. I discovered that I had a deep passion for the career. I fell in love with the profession as well as the students who came into my life. I have found this profession to be highly satisfying. I realized that I was making a direct positive impact in someone's life! I taught at a Montessori private school, specializing in the Cambridge syllabus, in subjects that include Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Environmental Management. I can proudly say that, together with my students, we achieved a 100% pass rate for the 2022 Cambridge curriculum examinations. Some students attained A*s in these subjects and that made me the happiest person ever. I also initiated the gardening project at the school which had over 5 plant varieties which included cabbages, onions, kale, etc. A balanced diet is always essential in the growth and development of any child.I have also worked as a science content creator and editor for a UK-based company formerly known as Boardworks. I am very passionate about re-visioning the science curriculum and incorporating a bit of what I call, SCI-FUN, in the classroom. Learning doesn't have to be dull, especially when it's science. I add games and puzzles that are science-based to keep my students engaged and assertive. With the advancements being made in the EdTech industry, no child should be left behind in attaining knowledge, I am glad to have worked on over 200 resources in Chemistry and Biology, which are available online for students to use!Currently, I am a Science Educator at an international school, where my goal is to change the world, one student at a time!
