Design and development of core metadata models based on real time replicated databases used by Vurv’s application software using Cognos Reportnet’s Framework Manager. Design, development and continued maintenance of client reporting metadata models based on the core models. Gather and analyze client requirements to create custom derived items as required for their individual reporting needs. Work with clients to design custom reports using Report Studio. Administer the Cognos Reportnet server environment to include portal security, troubleshooting of reported issues, the testing and application of hot fixes, patches and maintenance packs released by Cognos Support and the continued monitoring of server performance. Provide recommendations to management regarding infrastructure requirements required for future reporting needs. Perform routine disaster recovery backups of client reporting packages.

The IT department was a one person operation. It was my responsibility to manage every aspect of information technology for the entire corporation. The company’s infrastructure consisted of two Windows 2000 active directory servers with 5 domains, an MS Exchange server, two MS SQL 2000 servers, Norton Antivirus server, Veritas Backup-Exec server, Citrix XP server, Windows 2000 Print server, and a Watchguard 700 Firewall over a quad T-1 network. DLD and Fifth Gear were connected to the corporate headquarters via a Frame Relay network. A corporate VPN was established to connect the Meridian project sites back to the corporate headquarters through hardware based firewalls installed at each project location.
