I am a qualified Learning Mentor in Learning and development and support services for children and young people and those who support them. Currently working with children across the school. I support children in class who have social and emotional needs, who therefore may find accessing the curriculum difficult as well as work with children on a one to one basis and work with small groups primarily around friendship and social skills. As well as mentoring I have extensive experience in raising attendance awareness at our school and organise assemblies and with the headteacher and staff, we work together in highlighting the importance of regular attendance and how this links in with achieving. I also support parents and have an excellent relationship with both parents and my colleagues. I qualified as Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities Parent facilitator in 2008/09 and I’ve delivered the SFSC programme at my school to parents

I supported families who had issues with their children in attending school. I would signpost families to relevant external agencies for extra support. I would also organise coffee mornings and arrange outside speakers to attend school events and inform parents of the various services that they could offer. I also worked specifically to support Bengali speaking families. I built up a very good relationship with all the families that I worked with

Supporting the class teacher with children who’s ages ranged from 5-11 years. Was employed as a Level 3 TA, which involved working with children with various needs

Supported children with SEN needs and also supported children in small group settings. Primarily in Year 1. Worked jointly with the class teachers and fellow TA’s.

Worked in the children and families team. Worked collaboratively with social workers. Duties included attending case conferences, core group meetings. Supervising access between children in care and their families. Helping families to access extra support; signposting them to other organisations.
