Executive Director/Co-FounderPyxle (Pvt.) Ltd Jul 2003 - Dec 2007With one other partner in 2003 to develop the internet market in Sri Lanka, focusing on blue-chip customers within the country. Being a fledgling market, there was an opportunity to offer high-quality design-led internet and software services to the market, which lacked presence in the middle ground. With a name and strategic change in 2006, the newly-formed Pyxle focused more on software development and software outsourcing, developing exclusive products and services for the travel & leisure, tea and apparel sectors with blue-chip customers in Sweden, India, Malaysia and Dubai. Since its inception, Designlab/Pyxle has posted a 200% growth in customers and revenue annually. Pyxle today has over 35 programmers and is targetted to turn over USD 1 million for 2008/2009. Although no longer active in the management of the business, I still hold 20% equity in the company and oversee business development internationally. Most recently, I negotiated the joint agreement between Pyxle and Catenate UK plc to enter the British market with software outsource services, and will follow this with an entry into the US market in 2009/2010. Experience at Designlab/Pyxle has been valuable lessons learnt in entrepreneurship and business management, and succeeding in difficult economic conditions where many similar businesses have failed. After successfully designing and building one car and a few rollercoasters, Pyxle has given me the necessary grounding in running a successful business.

Consultant DesignerMicrocars (Pvt.) Ltd Dec 2000 - Jun 2003The Microcar project was Sri Lanka's first low-volume locally-designed-and-built car. Although the project started in early 1999, work had not progressed beyond a rough clay model. After joining the project on a 2-week trial, I extended this to an annual contract to complete the design of the exterior, interior and chassis. Being the only project leader, my role was stretched across design, project management, procurement, engineering design and R&D. My experience at Skytrak proved invaluable at this point. Within 9 months, the project progressed from a clay buck to a running prototype model with a fiberglass body. Subsquently I was also involved in the setting up of the manufacturing and finishing plant. Being a low-automation, high-labour setup, efficient workflow and labout utilization along the production line was key to a smooth operation. Microcars today has 2 production plants producing 5 variations of my original design.Microcars was an ideal opportunity for me to design and put into production my first car, and whilst it is in low volume, the results have been successful.

Signage & Graphics DesignerAjm Interiors Jan 1999 - Dec 1999Malaysia)Combining my knowledge in design and transportation to the booming construction market in late 1998 led to this short-term position. I headed the building graphics and signage department of AJM Interiors, a leading Malaysian Architectural and Interior Design firm. Work included predicting and managing traffic flow in public areas, developing concept designs of signage, creating schedules, layouts and specifications for complete building/site signage systems (covering all types of signage). I designed and implemented two packages, for the Mid Valley City (Malaysia's biggest shopping mall) and for a 900-bed hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
