Doctoral StudentUniversity Of Toronto Sep 2020 - PresentToronto, Ontario, CanadaDespite advances in lung cancer treatments, LA-NSCLC remains the leading cancer killer in North America, complicated by changes in tumor anatomy during radiotherapy. Deformable CBCT image registration can help monitor and accurately estimate daily dose delivery but suffers from image quality issues. We propose using AI-generated synthetic CT images to improve dose calculation accuracy by better representing tissue densities.Supervisor: Dr. Jean-Pierre Bissonnette -
Graduate Student ResearcherMcgill University - Medical Physics May 2019 - Aug 2020Montreal, Quebec, CanadaUsing pattern recognition algorithms in dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) to characterize blood supply in solid tumors. Supervisor: Dr. Ives Levesque -
Research AssistantSunnybrook Research Institute May 2017 - May 2018Toronto, Canada AreaThe D+H SRI Summer Student Research Program provides undergraduate students the opportunity to work closely with scientists and engineers at Sunnybrook Research Institute by offering a unique hospital-based research experience. With the financial help of the SRI Studentship Award, I worked in the Schulich Heart Research Program under the Physical Sciences platform on a Cardiac-MRI research project. This project involves the characterization of MRI relaxation mechanisms and tissue strain properties in disease progression following an acute myocardial infarction (or a heart attack). I performed data analysis, interpretation, and translation of MRI relaxation physics to medically relevant problems in humans. This work was extended to my honours thesis project. This work has been accepted in the following conferences:Poster - Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference (CUPC 2017)Poster - International Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Conference (CMR 2018)Talk - Imaging Network Ontario 2018 (IMNO 2018)Talk - International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine Conference (ISMRM 2018)Supervisor: Dr. Nilesh Ghugre -
Research AssistantThunder Bay Regional Research Institute May 2016 - Aug 2016Thunder Bay, OnSummer School on Medical Imaging (SSMI) is a research program created by Lakehead University and affiliated with Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute to allow undergraduate and graduate students to work on projects in the field of medical imaging. As a research assistant, I worked closely with a PhD student on a project to develop software using MATLAB that analyzes data from multiple MRI scanners with different field strengths and outputs the optimum parameters for a spin-echo image to obtain high contrast-to-noise ratio using image processing tools and MRI theory. This research helped advance project forward as a proof-of-concept to implement low-powered MRI-guided HIFU therapy for prostate cancer by improving contrast-to-noise ratio between healthy and cancerous tissue.Supervisor: Dr. Laura Curiel
