The Master of Engineering in Bioinstrumentation is an intensive, one-year, on-campus, professional degree program. The program trains engineers to be industry leaders by combining rigorous graduate-level engineering coursework with fundamental business training on issues that confront professionals who develop products for biomedical imaging, medical diagnostics, genomics, and tools used in life science research.The program is designed as a unique discovery experience, offering greater technical depth than is possible in an undergraduate program, while providing the tools you'll need to successfully develop products in multidisciplinary teams. The coursework provides opportunities to become proficient within your technical discipline at the graduate level, and the background to become an effective engineering manager in the medical instrumentation field.

Pan Research Group is located at the newly founded Biomedical Research Center (BRC) at Carle Foundation Hospital and Mills Breast Cancer Institute. At the Laboratory for Materials in Medicine (MatMed), our focus is translational medicine to bring nanotechnology quickly the clinic. We are pursuing cutting-edge research in three major frontiers: nanomedicine, molecular carcinogenesis, and nanotoxicity. Our multidisciplinary approaches encompass a variety of chemical, polymeric, molecular biological and analytical methods to address issues related to cardiovascular and cancer diseases.

Our research is broadly aimed at the understanding and developing novel lipid-based and polymeric nanoparticle platforms for molecular imaging, drug delivery and non viral gene delivery applications with a focus on structure, function and engineering processes. More specifically, the current inquiries also address the design, synthesis and characterization of nanoscopic materials and contribute to the overall research orientation of the Consortium for Translational Research in Advanced Imaging and Nanomedicine (C-TRAIN).
