F... A simple letter with yet a considerable impact. This is what I saw for 2 of my 4 grades on my transcript my freshman year at The University of Oklahoma. My first semester rocked my world. I had gotten into my dream school, the only school I ever wanted to attend. And there I was a semester later facing academic probation. That second semester I was able to not only recover but to excel, with the assistance of a class designed for freshman in that situation. That class was taught by an advisor at OU. She cared about her students and their success. There have been many times in my life when I have faced adversity, some while still in college. Thankfully, there have been people in my life that have helped guide me and mold me into the person I am today. They probably thought they were simply telling me how to survive college and get an education or how to do a job. The words they were saying were just that, actions for me to do. Little did they know they were showing me how to be a better student, teacher, boss, and leader, by their own actions. Someone can tell you how to be a leader until they are blue in the face, but the real leader lies in the person that values others and listens to what they have to say. If they aren't considering who you are as a person and listening to you, they are not a great leader. That is simply a boss. These are tools I have experienced and crafted in my career so far. I am ever evolving and trying to better myself in my leadership skills. With evolutions comes change. Change is not easy, but necessary for growth. I am proud to say that even though I faced some trials, I did graduate with my Bachelor's Degree in four years. I am even prouder to say that I am currently working on a Master's degree from Colorado Technical University in Organizational Leadership and Change. This time, there are no failing grades.
