I started working at Pylon Gears after I matriculated in 2008. I received training on the gear cutters and I learned multiple skills and technique: Using measurement equipment, general engineering calculations, machining processes/operations, reading of engineering drawings and interpretation etc. and realized my passion for mechanical engineering.After a few months I was given the opportunity to learn conventional machining as gear grinding, milling, turning and slotting. On successful operating of the conventional machines I received in house training on the CNC turning and milling, operating, setting and programming with Fanuc and Siemens controls. I worked on all of these machines (milling, turning, gear cutting, gear grinding, slotting etc) as an ‘all rounder’ for a few years, as the opportunity arise, to get as much experience and exposure to new challenges and obtain new skills.I always work hard, smart, fast and dedicated to give only my best to obtain only the best quality work. I am a perfectionist and always pay attention to the smallest detail of every work piece and make sure it’s perfect to specification.When my former workshop manager was about to retired, I was given the opportunity to step into his shoes for the company as I am the best candidate for the job with some of the most general skills and knowledge of the work place. I received intense management and process training from my former foreman for a few months before he retired. I am a hands on manager and I do what needs to be done to get the work out. But my passion is and always will be on operating machines.On the sad point due to tough economic circumstances it came to our attention from the directors that Pylon Engineering T/A Pylon gears is going to be liquidated and cease to exist from a 60 year legacy.I then received the opportunity to work and train artisans at CCC Machinery Supplies cc in January 2017 on gear cutting and now work as an all rounder as metal machinist.
