The ability to understand and discover how a business works is of great interest to Dirk and having recently completed his MBA, it has enhanced his inquisitive mind around the functioning of businesses. Logistics has allowed him to understand how businesses he served operate because in order to deliver a good service in this field one needs to understand the clients business comprehensively.He has over 8 years work experience in supply chain logistics management within the SADC region and this has given him an understanding of the dynamics of trade within it. He has built several business networks across various sectors and has a decent understanding of the challenges businesses tend to face operating in the sub-Saharan region. He has traveled and conducted business in Zambia, Zimbabwe, DRC, Tanzania and Mozambique and has a general understanding of the economies and politics of those countries. Understanding what incentivises people in these economies always intrigues him and he sets to discover this from as many local people as possible when he travels. Dirk has a strong and vibrant personality and, as a manager in particular, he has learnt how to use this style to lead individuals. He brings energy to the work place and an interrogative approach to problem solving. Asking questions and by teaching is how he learns. He is a seasoned public speaker and comfortable in new situations and a confident communicator and networker.He is a keen sports enthusiast who loves playing and watching a variety of sports. Mountain biking and squash are just two of extracurricular sports he partakes in to keep his fitness to an acceptable level.He has a keen interest in current affairs and like to keep up to date with what is happening in our world so he enjoys reading books and newspapers. Woodworking is what he does when he needs to completely shut off from the world.
